UNDERSTANDING CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE

The consequences of sexual abuse can have on an individual range far and wide. Victims of sexual abuse, especially children and adolescents, can and often develop mental health issues due to sexual abuse. A child considered is anyone that is under the age of 18 years old. And sexual abuse, in terms of this, is any sexual contact between a child. Sexual abuse is also an adult using a child to fulfill sexual purposes. Another form of child sexual abuse is sexual exploitation which is the coercion or forcing of a child into sex acts in trade for monetary value, drugs, or necessities such as food and shelter.

It is estimated that 1 in 3 girls and 1-6 boys; are victims of sexual abuse in North America.

As a survivor of human trafficking and child sex slavery, my mission is to educate and provide resources for survivors and their communities to raise awareness and identify, intervene, and prevent further child sexual abuse.
