I’m Monique Peterkin

A survivor, author, and aspiring psychologist with a passion for helping others overcome trauma and reclaim their lives.

Born and raised in St. Catherine, Jamaica, I experienced sexual trauma during my formative years, leading to struggles with communication and academic performance. Despite these challenges, I pursued higher education and now hold a Master of Arts in Political Communication, with a focus on trauma and disaster relief psychology as a Ph.D. candidate.

My writing journey began during my early college years while pursuing a BA in International Business. I have published two books, including "It was Him Not Me”: How to Reclaim Your Life and Learn to Live Beyond Childhood Sexual Trauma" (2021) and "This is My Body, and I am in Charge" (2023). Through these works, I passionately guides readers toward healing and understanding, drawing from my personal struggles to shed light on the path to recovery.

As an honorable discharged Navy veteran, I am a woman of integrity who advocates for justice for the offended. As a leader and author, I do not shy away from topics often not discussed, such as the war on rape and human trafficking. Drawing inspiration from my experiences, I use my books as a platform to speak up about issues plaguing society.

Today my mission is to educate and provide resources for identifying, intervening, and preventing further child sexual abuse for parents, educators, and authorities alike.

My Approach

My approach is creating a space environment that allows those who want to be educated on the dangers of child sexual abuse and providing my clients with the evidence-based research and resources necessary to identify, intervene and prevent further sexual abuse in children.

How do we fight childhood sexual abuse?

It is estimated that 1 in 3 girls and 1-6 boys; are victims of sexual abuse in North America.

The psychological consequences of childhood sexual abuse impact the survivors and their outlook on future relationships.
